All New Suzuki SX4 Sportback

Suzuki SX4 is more a practical car with good interior space. Its high ride height means it's easy to climb in or out of and front and rear space is good considering the car's size. The boot is smaller than many other superminis, with just 270-litres of space, rising to 625 litres with the seats folded.

Personal Space: Unless you're six foot tall there is more than enough in the front and the "spacious" back seat for you. There are plenty of handy storage compartments, door pockets and cup holders for all your stuff. The dark cloth is great for covering up spills and other accidents - though it does get warm in the summer months.

From this Sunday, I am starting a series of weekly specials. These will be insider news about future company model programs, happenings, stuff that you will not have read in any of the enthusiast magazines and stuff that when they publish is accompanied by 'SCOOP' in caps and bold. As none of the media outlets have any use for my rantings, as accurate as they may be, I will use my blog as an outlet.

The Equator's long 125.9-inch wheelbase contributes to comfort and stability, while its 206.6-inch overall length (Extended Cab or Crew Cab with standard bed) provides a good balance of maneuverability and utility. Available for serious off-road duty is a comprehensive system with four-wheel active limited-slip traction control, an electronic locking rear differential, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Descent and Hill Hold Control. Transmission choices are a five-speed manual (standard with the four-cylinder only) or a five-speed electronically controlled automatic, with or without available shift-on-the-fly 4WD with an electronically controlled part-time two-speed transfer case. of torque, while an optional 4.0-liter DOHC aluminum block V-6 ups the ante to a more robust 261 hp and 281 lb.-ft.

Standard engine is a 2.5-liter DOHC four good for 152 hp and 171 lb.-ft. The available Premium, Sport and RMZ-4 packages include cruise control, power mirrors, locks and windows and remote keyless entry, while a Sport package adds eight-speaker-plus-subwoofer Rockford-Fosgate audio with steering wheel controls, a six-CD changer, XM Satellite Radio, an auxiliary input jack, wireless Bluetooth and, on the Crew Cab RMZ-4, even a factory moonroof. Of course, the wide range of available accessories includes specialized bed components for securing and transporting a motorcycle or ATV a relatively simple task. Extended Cab and Crew Cab models offer an available "high-utility" bed with a spray-on bedliner and a cleverly useful tie-down system with adjustable tracks. A set of unique Suzuki styling elements-including the hood, front fenders, grille, bumpers, front fascia and tailgate-differentiate Equators from their Nissan Frontier cousins. Beyond that, very few of today's pickup alternatives are fuel-efficient compact or midsize, and this very competitive new Suzuki Equator line provides another set of excellent choices. It's available for 2009 in Extended and Crew Cab, short- and long-bed and rear- or four-wheel-drive (4WD) variations.

Suzuki says this new Equator, developed as a joint effort with Nissan North America-and named "4X4 of the Year" by 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine-offers a well-rounded blend of comfort, style, utility and off-road capability, and we can't argue. Come to think of it, why has Suzuki, known better to most Americans for its motorcycles, ATVs and boat motors than for its cars, brought a new pickup to market at all? truck sales were tanking due to high gas prices? Why has small-but-growing Japanese automaker Suzuki brought a new midsize pickup truck to market just as U.S.

2010 Suzuki SX4 and SX4 Sedan Facelift Revealed in China

Suzuki's joint-venture in China, Changan-Suzuki, has released a facelift version of the SX4 crossover for the domestic market. Not surprisingly, both the hatchback and sedan variants of the updated SX4 feature the same aesthetic changes as the European version of the car that was scooped undisguised last December. These include the redesigned bumper, reworked grille and concave surfaces above the fog lights as well as a new skid-plate at the rear of the hatchback.
For those that like to pay attention to insignificant details, the China-market and, from the looks of it, the European-spec 2010 SX4's subtly redesign front-end is no different than the one found on the North American market SX4 that has been around since 2006...
The Chine-spec SX4s also feature updated interior trim and a new GPS navigation system.

2011 Suzuki Kizashi: Reader Spies Mazda6 Sedan Rival in Virginia

2011 Suzuki KizashiPeter Mcabe is the latest addition to our list of eagle-eyed Carscoop readers that have managed to bag a set of spy shots of a future model. The quick-witted reader spotted a camouflaged prototype of the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi sedan parked behind the Olive Garden restaurant off of Midlothian Turnpike, in Richmond, Virginia. The Kizashi, which was wrongly reported dead by Japanese media earlier this year, is based on the Kizashi 3 concept car shown at the New York auto show in 2008.
2011 Suzuki KizashiSadly, as we suspected upon seeing the official sketches of the Kizashi that were registered by Suzuki at the European trademark office in 2008, the mid-size sedan's appearance looks to be severely toned down compared to the head-turning concept.
The Kizashi 3 prototype had an all-new, 300HP 3.6-liter, naturally-aspirated V6 engine with power delivered through a six-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. The road-going model will most likely be offered with a detuned version of the V6 as well as an inline four-cylinder engine producing somewhere north of 150 horsepower, the latter driving the front-wheels.
2011 Suzuki KizashiIn North America, the Kizashi will compete against the likes of the Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Mazda6 sedans. In accordance to the latest reports, the Kizashi will hit U.S. showrooms by the end of year, meaning that we'll probably see it making its global premiere at a major international motorshow this fall, perhaps at the Tokyo Salon in October.
Suzuki has yet to confirm when (and if) the Kizashi will reach European shores, but if it does, the Japanese automaker will have to enhance the sedan's lineup with smaller sized gasoline and diesel engines if it wants to rival family sedans like the Opel Insignia, Toyota Avensis and Citroen C5.
Kudos to Peter!

New Suzuki Kizashi Sedan Spied Inside and Out by Carscoop Reader

2011 Suzuki Kizashi SedanLooks like Carscoop's readers are on a roll lately as only a week after Peter Mcabe spotted the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi in Virginia, Michael Kalkofen picked up these shots of the mid-size sedan at a hotel somewhere in Kansas. Michael told us that he found three lightly camouflaged Kizashi prototypes, two in dark silver and one in a red, parked right outside the hotel. Wasting no time, Michael managed to bag some excellent interior shots of the Kizashi prototype models that you can check out in detail below.
The photos reveal that Suzuki's Honda Accord challenger gets an Alfa Romeo-like instrument panel with two deeply set gauges. The dashboard is uncluttered with all controls neatly concentrated on the center stack.
2011 Suzuki Kizashi SedanThe prototype models seen here have their front and back ends covered, but it doesn't take a pro to see that the production version will be less aggressively styled than the Kizashi 3 concept car that was shown in New York last year.
Official details on the range of engines remain scarce but look for a detuned version of the concept-car's 300HP 3.6-liter V6 that will power all four wheels and an entry-level four-banger that will most probably be offered in front-wheel drive form only.
Suzuki is expected to officially unveil the Kizashi before the end of the year.
Hat tip to Michael Kalkofen for the pics!
